We utilize both hard wax and strip wax at our spa. Each type has its benefits. Strip wax is excellent for removing short, stubborn hairs quickly, making it ideal for large body parts. On the other hand, we typically use hard wax on sensitive areas for a gentler experience. During a single service, it's common for us to use a combination of both waxes to ensure the best results for our clients.

Waxing offers several advantages over shaving. Unlike shaving, which only cuts the hair at the skin's surface, waxing removes the entire hair shaft, including the root. This results in exceptionally smooth skin without stubble. Also, waxing provides longer-lasting results compared to shaving, and with repeated treatments, your regrowth becomes thinner and finer.

To minimize your discomfort, you can take a mild painkiller 30-45 minutes before your waxing session. It's also helpful to avoid consuming caffeine before waxing. For women, you can reduce sensitivity by avoiding waxing during the week before and during your menstrual period. While these steps can decrease the pain, it's important to note that waxing is not completely pain-free.

The best hair length for waxing is around half an inch. Most people achieve this length by waiting approximately two weeks after shaving before getting a wax. It's essential that all of your hair is long enough, not just some of it, to ensure effective waxing and desirable results.

If you're using a topical prescription cream, you can still undergo waxing. However, we advise discontinuing its use for a week before your appointment and a few days after. Even then, there may be more irritation compared to if you were not using any prescription products at all. Clients taking Accutane/Isotretinoin can only receive waxing services once they have discontinued the medication for at least six months. This precaution is necessary as waxing while on Accutane can cause significant skin tearing due to the medication's impact on skin health.

When waxing for a special occasion, it's essential to plan ahead. When waxing for a special occasion, the most important thing is that you wax at least once well in advance of the big event. Everyone is different, and while reactions are rare, you don’t want to realize that you’re having a bad reaction from your wax the day before your wedding! We recommend waxing at least six weeks before the big day, and then again three days prior. Remember to avoid tanning 48 hours before and after waxing services to achieve the best results.

It's important to note that those of us prone to ingrown hairs may still experience them regardless of the hair removal method used. However, based on our experience, most people tend to have fewer ingrown hairs when they choose to wax over shaving. To help prevent and address ingrown hairs, we recommend using products such as Silk Scrub and Ingrown Concentrate by Fur. These products can be used as a preventative measure and to treat existing ingrown hairs. Moisturizing your skin with Fur Oil in conjunction with the scrub and concentrate is essential for maintaining healthy skin.

We recommend scheduling your waxing treatment every 4-5 weeks. With consistent waxing, the hair follicles will gradually have a weaker grip on the hair, making the removal process easier and less painful. You may even notice a reduction in hair growth over time. Maintaining a regular waxing routine will help you achieve long-lasting smoothness and optimal results.
